Conshohocken student shares research at Symposium
Goldberg is a rising sophomore majoring in biology at Susquehanna. She is a 2012 graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School and the daughter of Glen and Diane Goldberg.
Students from Susquehanna were joined at the symposium by peers from the University of Scranton and Moravian, Goucher and Juniata colleges—all schools in the Landmark Athletic Conference. This year, the symposium featured 16 academic discussions and 64 poster presentations on a variety of research, in such areas as physics, biochemistry, biology, ecology, environmental science, mathematics, history, economics and computer science.
With a fellow student, Goldberg presented research conducted with Professor of Biology Matt Persons, titled Relationship Between Sibling and Sexual Cannibalism in the Wolf Spider Tigrosa Helluo: A Test of the Aggressive Spillover Hypothesis. The project examined aggressive behavior in female wolf spiders.
Since the creation of the Landmark Conference, one of its goals has been to find “ways to collaborate beyond athletic venues,” said Professor of Biology Margaret Peeler, who serves as Susquehanna’s faculty representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). “The symposium has done just that.”
